In the anime Somnus looks like a dick, but in the interview and trailer there's teasing about something that may make us change our opinion.
The content for the episode looks pretty cool. But it worries me tha if it's implemented in the main game, it can deminish chapter 14 by fighting the same bosses again.

I was referring to the Prologue. Sylva mentioned it was previously called "EPISODE 0: ARDYN" and that it was paid, along with Episode Aranea also being paid and a sampler being bundled in with Episode Ardyn.
Sylva's didnt say it in public but I help the guy out with some of the translations. The Reddit mods had the same name of the animation before it got called Prologue and shown to be free.
Sylva said he thinks there might be some extra scenes on the bluray copy of it, but there's references in the dlc. He had a full summary of everything before they showed anything but without Gilgamesh. The only thing he said he wasn't sure about was the section he gave me about Ardyn's fiance with if it was Somnus or Ardyn because there were changes.
Like he knew of characters mentioned today, and sent me pictures before. I'll post a couple to show I'm not makin anything up

Additionally, in M.E. 729 during the attack on Insomnia by Ardyn, the Captain of the organization was Gladiolus' father, Clarus Amicitia.

Only thing I could see working is that the gods or the king of lucis have some sort of ability to manipulate their subjects' memories similar to the founding titan's abilities in attack on titan. Still really doesn't make alot of sense either way but guess we'll see. At this point I don't even care how much it fucks up the story because these fights just look too amazing.
The anime was alright, though after watching the Q&A they clearly failed to show that Somnus was a “realist” and Ardyn was a “dreamer” and that there was no beef between them - from the anime alone I thought Somnus was a d!ck and hated Ardyn... so yeah, the relationship between the brothers was no portrayed the way the developers are describing it.
Also the game lore is so messed up now. The picture of bahamut giving a crowned Ardyn the crystal makes no sense. And the idea of Ardyn being a healer king is false since he never was a king according to the anime, and the new EP Ardyn trailer shows him straight up declaring war on Insomnia - so Kingsglaive no longer makes sense.

Since Ifrit and Bahamut seem to have prominent roles in the new DLC (the former being summonable within the DLC) I'm holding out hope that perhaps the reward for the main game will be their summons finally, rather than weapons like we previously received from the other DLC episodes. I know it's a pipedream though lol
I'm still in the camp of Ardyn wiping everyone's memories because maybe he learns that the chosen king hasn't been born yet and wants to fight him specifically. I personally don't think it's impossible to believe that Ardyn could pull something like that after all of his magical fuckery in the main game. Dude straight up fucked with time at one point so I'm definitely thinking he's the one who makes it so no one or very few people remember what happens on that day.
I'm kinda hoping we can unlock a way to use the Armiger the way Ardyn does. Armiger Unleashed is nice but it's still something you gotta charge up and it depletes over time. I think it would be cool if we could equip it the way Ardyn has it as a base form combat option and it seems once his meter fills up he temporarily gains access to a beefed up form of it similar to the one Noct has by default. It seems he even uses it as a projectile barrage while standing back at one point in the trailer. I wouldn't mind an artifact or something related to Ardyn that can be equipped to use Armiger like that. Ardyn's base combat also just looks plain nice and I want that for Noct since I doubt Ardyn will ever become a playable party member in the main game.
You think you could get Sylva to release everything he knows? Maybe not in relation to Episode Ardyn itself since we're about to get that soon but in regards to everything else. I don't think there's any point in hiding things anymore and everyone wants to know what he found.

The prologue tried to fit too much into it. The editing was really jarring. The Episode looks interesting. Something I wish Square would have taken from Versus tagline was "There is nothing good or bad but thinking it makes it so" or FFVIII's conversation between Irvine and Squall about "evil" and how its based on perspective. I feel like they are just trying to sell that Somnus was a dick rather than having a more justifiable reason to want to stop Ardyn.

The episode had a great premise and adds cool backstory to Ardyn, but it's obvious they were too short on time and tried to cramp in as much to it as possible. Still it was pretty cool
Not sold on the gameplay trailer tho, to be honest. Graphically it still looks quite bad, gameplay is basic, barely deviating from the main game with many rehashed bosses just thrown in different locals. But the setpieces look to be really cool.
Still wonder what will its length be and if they'll release it stand alone or it'll be accessed through the main game.
And I reeeally wish they'd include at least a hard mode rebalancing to the main game as the final update. Although not much hope at this point.

They also said they wanted to flesh out the relationship of Somnus, Aena and Ardyn and the old world but were limited by the duration
