I have a question! Tho it might be that I missed something from game...was it ever explained why people from Lucis didn't give a fuck that Noctis is a prince? Even when you go to Hammerhead for the first time, Cindy refers to you as Oracle's future husuband :v not like he's a prince of your country....also nobody knew how he looked like? I understand that Regis knew since Noctis was a kid that he will eventually die early so he wasn't stopping him from missing classes and Citadel's meetings but you know...royal families have photo shoots? Or are generally being seen and people know how they look? :/ Ok, some of them like Viz (ugh that was his name? guy from newspaper) EVENTUALLY said that they know who he is but still...didn't really give a fuck. And they had to pay for everything xD That part seemed so unrealistic to me...also question number 2 which just came to me - I think that I generally know from some trailers that Regis knew that Noctis was the chosen king...but was it officially stated anywhere? Like, in finished game or movie? Was the scene with small Noctis and Regis crying in the rain finally in game? :0
(sorry guys. I need to study and everything is better than studying)

yeah thats something iffy

from what i remember, only cindy, dino and vyv immediately recognizes noctis

theres a radio recording with ppl talking about noctis personal life, i think its pretty safe to say ppl were supposed to know how noctis looks and its not hard to assume he was prince given hes the only one sporting a black and modern car in lucis; just a misstep on the world-building aspect

about question 2 he knew and that scene was not included in the game so far sadly

Oh please it was both ways and you know it.
Not from what I saw. Yes, people were shitting on XV in their comments, but you looked to be the only person to actively reply to people to shit on their opinions. You did get banned after all for it. Anyway, it doesn't matter, not really relevant to this thread.

The game does a poor job of conveying it but the rest of Lucis doesn't actually hold Insomnia in high regards for "hoarding tranquility" as Glauca put it in Kingsglaive. A lot of common people don't actually like Regis or the royal family because they feel like they left them to fend for themselves when the Empire came. Meanwhile the Oracle was always traveling and healing people so it makes sense why they prefer her over the king and why Noctis doesn't have much of a reputation outside the crown city. Ignis also says it in a bit of dialogue at the start of the game "It seems royal rank carries little merit outside the crown city." There's random dialogue in the game that points to this just nothing scripted that really drives it home so some people may miss it entirely. As for Regis knowing yeah he knew, I can't really tell where it was stated if at all but for the most its heavily implied that Regis and Luna both knew the fate Noctis was dealt.

Thank you for your answers. Meh, I understand the situation but after all he is your king - _ - but leaving them behind was shitty too...okay this game is fucked up x'D I feel like they missed a good opportunity of showing how people of Lucis actually don't like Noctis. Like idk, maybe someone would try to damage Regalia at night or something. Meh, I love the open world but it just doesn't stick with the story. It's all happy summer roadtrip, when there's a capital falling and millions of people dying nearby. It will sound shit but I feel like Versus would handle this better...like it still would have an open world and road trip but they would constantly remind you how shitty your situation is. And I honestly don't know why they didn't include the scene in which boys see airships flying to the city. Like...the fuck they didn't notice anything earlier... -_- But on the other hand, some of my friends played the game without watching the movie or anime and they didn't question anything. It was like "yeah boys were fun, it's sad that Luna died and I liked some quests also Cindy has big boobs HAHA" wrrrr haha

Ignis states that the Noctis' title holds little weight outside the Crown City when you are first given the side quest from Dino. If you consider that Regis closed connection to Leide, Duscae, and Cleigne it would make sense that the people in those regions wouldn't really respect or care for the crown.

Also one thing that i might have missed - Regis knew how the treaty signing was going to end, so that's why he made Noctis go to Altissia and marry there so he would be in a "safe" place right? So why did Luna exactly sneak to Insomnia? I feel stupid asking about this...and I've seen the movie like 3 times...but it's still very much unclear to me. Idk if it's because everything was rushed and poorly written or maybe all Final Fantasies are like this (I only played and finished IV, then tried VII but was too unplayable for me to enjoy story...I also tried XIII but hated it from the very beginning ;D Tho I bought Type-0 maybe it's going to be better xd)

Yeah there's definitely quite a bit of disconnect between the story and the world, at least for the Lucis portion of the game. Insomnia falls and we only really see some signs of it for a few seconds and the characters also only really react to it for a bit but soon after you're back to the bachelor party roadtrip vibes with even the NPCs not really discussing something so monumental. I feel like it does improve a lot once the game shifts to a more linear style though with Noctis taking quite a bit to get over Luna dying and Ignis going blind is handled really well too but there are still moments like Tennebrae falling that end up being mere footnotes in the journey. The game handles the lingering effects of stuff that happens with the party and other more personal things really well but then weirdly forgets to make big events feel like anything substantial either.
Also one thing that i might have missed - Regis knew how the treaty signing was going to end, so that's why he made Noctis go to Altissia and marry there so he would be in a "safe" place right? I think the plan was that Noctis and Luna would both be far away from ground zero should the signing go wrong but the Empire started playing dirty the moment they brought Luna to Insomnia instead of sending her to Altissia as a form of leverage I guess. Tbh that whole plot point confused me as well. Would probably need to read a detailed summary to figure out what was actually going on with Luna. Also yeah FF is pretty confusing most of the time and FFXV is probably the least convoluted one I've personally played even with all it's problems. Hell I'm still trying to figure out whether I was fighting Sephiroth or Jenova for most of FFVII and I've played that one to death. lol

I haven't seen tv's outside Insomnia, so is more probable that people know about him from the radio and less from magazines with his pictures.
Also, his costume and hair style are new, so it's more hard to identify. And the taylor makes every royal costume unique, so if you don't go near them you probably don't identify the skulls in their outfit.
And for last, i haven't seen the Royal simbol anywhere outside Insomnia, so the people outside probably are not related to it either.

In Kingsglaive you can see Luna trying to run away before Ravus gets her. Then she's "captured" and taken to Insomnia by force. So Regis doesn't try to blow everything up.

oh yeah...kind of makes sense ;D but on the other hand - wasn't Luna going to escape to Insomnia and tell everything Regis? And then Ravus caought her and took...to Insomnia?

She wanted to get there before the empire did so she could meet with Regis and presumably hatch a plan to escape with Noctis. She clearly wasn't privvy to Regis's plan to have Crowe escort her to Altissia and was acting on her own. By the time she arrived with the Niffs though Noct had already left, so she chose to refrain from following him so he could get away safely, knowing that she would only draw attention to him.

THANK YOU! This is the clearest explanation I ever got, and I asked about this all my friends who saw the movie xD

I don't think Luna knew anything and wasn't informed about where she would be going hence why she was trying to escape to Insomnia but ended up being taken there anyway as a tool to gain leverage against Regis should he cause a ruckus since he cares for Luna deeply. Regis sent Noctis away as part of the deal to keep him safe thinking Luna would also meet him there but instead was surprised by learning she was in Insomnia instead. He had already sent his Crownsguard away to escort the civilians out of Insomnia so then the Empire and traitor Glaives orchestrated the hostage situation with Luna on the hidden ships so that the last remaining fighters still loyal to Regis would be taken care of at which point it would just be Regis' diplomats versus the Magitek troopers aboard other ships. Luna was basically the Empire's guarantee that Regis would be completely defenseless when the time came to kill him and take the crystal. No prince and his friends, no Crownsguard (which the traitor Glaives probably tipped the Empire off to hence the plan to lure the loyal Glaives away), and no loyal Glaives with even Nyx barely making it back in time. Regis got played pretty hard all things considered. Like Cid said, he got dealt a losing hand and he played it the best he could which would be to ensure Noctis' safety and ensure that he at least had his bros and Cor to guide him. He also managed to get Luna out safely by sacrificing himself and sending her off with Nyx or else Glauca would've probably slaughtered them pretty quickly as well had he not set up that last minute barrier and bought them valuable time.

Edit: Didn't see @Loganight's post so I guess I just ended up repeating him in more detail. lol
