Its odd how no one yanked on FFVII & Smash bros for having auto attack just by holding confirm/attack button, yet bark at FFXV for it.

I started playing FF games pretty late, but I never found them to be too strategic.

"Attack" usually does the trick in winning a battle tbh but I still enjoyed it for what it is.

From how people talk about the past FF games, you'd think they were playing pro chess.

FFX was my first FF game and I completely fucked up the sphere grid growth system. Yet I still managed to finish the game in its entirety with a party with a lot of the strong moves missing.

Not knocking the battle systems since I enjoyed the ones I played but man, people just like to use any reason to knock FFXV down a few pegs :/

I don't find it be necessary to do unnecessary nit-picking at FFXV. The development hell that it went through I feel is enough of a hurdle to overcome in itself. Truth be told, not many projects in the same type of boat as FFXV come out good (e.g. Duke Nukem Forever changing hands so many times, and The Last Guardian not being as technically impressive as it would have been if it had came out on PS3) Who knows, maybe 5 years from now FFXV will be talked about more universally as one of the best to ever do it in the series while whatever new number will get bashed to no end. I can even see one of the mainline games being full VR IF that ever does end up being successful enough.

FFI-FFV were hard tho (the original versions), they required a conscious management of resources (since dungeons could be long and save points scarce); now from FFVI onwards it turned piss easy (excluding FFXIII and LRFFXIII) i don't know why there's this idea that if an RPG is turn-based it's automatically more strategic.

the number of posers pretending the old titles were for more wit people while the new ones are for casuals is ridiculous, the PS1 games are casual as fuck; any genre can be hard or easy depending on how the dev balances it.

If anything, I'd make the argument that ARPGs can be even more strategic than a standard turned based game. It's like comparing chess that has a time limit attached to it vs. normal standard chess. Unless a person has trained themselves, they are more likely to make mistakes when they have to think quickly in comparison to if every move had been calculated.

In the A.E time the first Lucian King was chosen.
We know that Ardyn used to be a Lucian King over 2000 years ago (in the present timeline).
We know that Regis was the 113th Lucian King.

With that said, what xxxth King was Ardyn?....It´s really unclear isn´t it?
I have a theory that could at the very least place Ardyn in a potential window in the timeline.
I may have found a potential (still vague) answer:

The earliest Ardyn could be in the royal lineage would be as the 14th Lucian King. How did I arrive to that conclusion?
His own Armiger gave me the answer. In his final fight with Notics I counted (I think) a total of 13 Royal Arms in his arsenal. This means that at least 13 kings passed away before Ardyn became one.
Edit Corrections: His own Armiger gave me the answer. In his final fight with Noctis, he has a total of 12 Royal Arms in his arsenal. That means that at least 12 kings passed away before Ardyn became one.

Any thoughts about this?

Ardyn doesn't have 13 Royal Arms. He has 12. That's why he's left defenseless when Noct pulls out the Sword of the Father -- he doesn't have anything to counter it with.

When you get hit 12 times, after an entire Armiger sky battle, yeah I think he wouldn't have countered with anything even if he had 13 arms.

It's also interesting to note that the main sword Ardyn is using to fight Noctis with is completely unique to him. I haven't seen a Royal Arm looking like that when I look through Noctis's arsenal of Royal weapons.

Tbh, I was always under the impression that Ardyn was the first King, since the person on the cover of the Cosmogony looked like him, but this is just speculation of course.

He could have recovered the Royal Arms after he got exiled? I mean nothing is stopping him from going around in his own spare time acquiring them. He got time to kill after all. What else was he gonna do? lol

The poor sod got owned that's for sure, although I wouldn't say he was "countering." More like letting himself get rekt lol

As I stated above, I can't seem to find a match for Ardyn's unique weapon in Noctis's arsenal, which means that the sword he was using to fight Noctis with is... not a Royal Arm?

I wonder what its origin was?

It's possible to summon none Royal Arm weapons since Noctis can summon a fishing rod... right? Unless that was just a convenient mechanic to enable Noctis to fish wherever

FFXV has a good amount of missable banter. The stories of some people being 100+ hours deep into the game still coming across unheard lines of dialogue is actually true.

Is it just me or would the Leviathan boss fight be so much better if SSJ God Super Sayian Noctis was removed entirely, that part of the fight was completely unengaging and trash, I was reading something on my tablet and won the boss fight by just holding O.

FFXV has a good amount of missable banter. The stories of some people being 100+ hours deep into the game still coming across unheard lines of dialogue is actually true.

Oh I believe that. I didn't realise how much dialogue I missed by riding around on a Chocobo because it was faster.

It wasn't until the rental period expired and I had to run back to the Regalia on foot did I hear dialogue I've never heard before.

Been using the Chocobo less to see if I could hear some more.
