Well Tabata said it's going to happen if it's not a simple port,
That's how I interpreted it when I read the translations in the articles you linked.
honestly it makes sense if you want more people to double dip, if you have exclusive PC features that aren't possible on consoles.
If they do this, there most definitely will be a large number of people who will double dip.
I already made up my mind I was gonna buy the PC version regardless so it's not an issue for me.
However the rage will be real.
My question is, why would people be angry? Not trying to be a smartass, since I'm genuinely pondering.
They didn't plan on getting the PC version at all but were "forced" to because they want to experience the new content?
Or they don't like that they had to play an "inferior" version on console initially?
For me personally, if the team plan on taking full advantage of the PC specs to make the game much better than the console version, I'm alright with that.
I think it's exciting to look forward to something new, yet familiar, at the same time. It's more rewarding than a direct port (but with obvious visual upgrades of course)
I love consoles but it's pretty well known that they are very restrictive in allowing developers to add as much content as they originally intended.
