It seems like even during Nomura's director days the story was constantly morphing (which is totally logical, but the way it's worded makes me think that the changes were substantial enough to not just be some sort of natural process of story-crafting).

Ferrari mentioned that he came from the world of animation. I've followed a few animated shows (namely Avatar: the Last Airbender and Legend of Korra) closely enough to know that big changes can be made from conception to final product even there, but the trick is that it generally happens much, much earlier. One of the Legend of Korra writers provided an example of the writing process for an episode of animation, and it went from premise in October 2011 to outline in November 2011 to the script used for recording dialogue in January of 2012... and that's for an episode whose season began airing in September of 2013.

It makes perfect sense that someone who came from the world of animation would be all "What are you doing?!" if stuff was being produced and shown before the foundation was properly set, even if that's how things are commonly done in the world of video games.

It was most likley changed heavily and reworked during that time cause the managment probably wanted Versus to be 1 game instead of the planned 3 so Nomura probably needed to squish the game and he probably couldnt get it to work cause he wanted to tell alot of story and 1 game wasent cutting it. Roberto says the contstant story changes occurred in 2013 not anytime before.

there's a lot of the previous game in XV, just enjoy it.

It has some elements but lets say versus was a 500 page book, we only got like 100 pages of it, we are missing a ton of stuff. That 500 page book was one of the best books ever but without the character development, subtelty and build up of the rest of the 400 pages it wouldve been mediocre book. XV is a game though and the gameplay holds up well (even if alot of areas were cut as well) but the story suffered greatly with the cuts.

how do you know Versus had 500 pages of one of the best books ever? LOL

so many assumptions based on a few trailers and not confirmed leaks it's not even funny, you can't tell the depth based on this; Versus could have ended with the same fate as XV, with many cut content and little character development.

(what i give you is that Versus trailers had great cinematography and a dark/edgy style i liked, but u cant tell how much of the elements would be developed)

i disagree, i think the game turned out to be great.

If Nomura can run into deadline issues and incomplete content with vanilla KH2, then there's nothing that can make him immune to meeting the same fate with FFXV. Nothing.

You can actually play the game yourself first instead of going by hands-off impression (not talking about just the story content).

Even if it had the original 500 pages it's possible for said original pages to had the same lack of "missing content" (underwritten characters, sideline/dropped/underexplained plot points, bad writting in general) that this 100 pages we currently have may be giving.
It's possible for the cut 400 pages to have been meandering and meaningless padding and the current XV just got rid of it, giving a hypotetical less flawed (but still flawed) narrative than the original 500 could have been.

To be honest, the game is flawed, but flawed only to the point that the fans over-hyped themselves.

This isn't like NMS where the Director lied to everyone's faces all the while rolling his eyes to the side, Tabata delivered pretty much everything that he had shown us. Yes, he had some short blunders like the Day 1 patch and the apology video. But the main problem is the game did not meet the expectations of the fans, because the fans raised the bar too high. Though this is in my honest personal opinion.

But since Tabata has acknowledged the discrepancies in the fans expectations with the game, let us hope that SE does not give up on FFXV in the long run as they continue to improve it.

The only thing we should care the most at this point. Hopefully they can keep supporting the game for at least 2 years or more (the first year dedicated to the episode DLCs and the second year/following years dedicated to patching as much as of the cut content as possible).

i'm not sure if the cut content will make into the game, i'm cautiously optimistic but there's nothing implying they'll support the game at this extent.

overall the DLCs will generate a lot of comments of "this should have been in the game in the first place", which is true but it might (just a baseless thought) demotivate the release of more content.

It pretty evident that those extra 400 pages that were cut were going to have stuff that wouldve enhanced the world and characters and not be all just filler. For example the empire had many characters that had little screen time im sure there were tons of scenarios planned for them instead of one cutscene. The cutscene where you see Ravus Verstal Ideolas and Areana all in one room. Verstal And Ideolas especially had no screentime at all even though their characters were hyped up for forever, they were obviously going to play a big role in the story. Verstal dissapears after that cutscene and Ideolas turns into a deamon and dies offscreen. Also Ravus story was obviously cut as well , why else would Tabata be adding cut scenes for him. He also died offscreen. I dont know the amount of development stella wouldve have but if she was a useless character that needed to be replaced, why was she replaced with a character that had barley any development either. Luna had a few minutes of backstory with Noctis on the bed and a few minutes of flashback with ravus and after that her final act in Altissia which was short. The theoretical 400 pages missing which I claim werent going to be just filler and padding and we have evidence for it through tons of characters being underutilized. These characters were going to be utilized originally otherwise why would Tabata say they are adding extra cutscenes in pacthes.

Not everything he said at one point that you would fight alongside Luna, He also said the main scenario was about 50 hours and 200 hours to do everything which is wrong it only takes about 20 hours on average. As well as the Dawn Trailer and even stuff from the Uncovered trailers not being in the game.

Only way i can see the demovation part happening is if the quality of all the DLCs themselves aren't up to par. And even thats a bit of a stretch, Tabata did bring up an example recently of how other open world games like The Witcher 3, GTA (V being a 2013 game even) etc are still given post-release support.

And lets be honest, we've already witnessed more than a handful of comments of "X/Y should have been in Z game" since last & this year.

Versus is irrelevant. It was re-imagined and reworked as XV under a new director. Stop clinging onto what could have been unless you want to write your own story based on those previous details. Otherwise nothing new comes about from Square Enix. They already have plans regardless of our input for prolonging XV's playablity like any game company.

XV is versus but with like 50% or more of the content removed and some character and plot reworks.

Yeah i respectfully don't agree with this petition. I'd much rather have a petition to flesh out the story of FFXV as it stands.

They need to add alot I think were only getting like 20 minutes of cutscenes at most, we need like 2 hours of cutscenes and more areas added in.
