Something fishy is going on here. Second on is clearly worse: texture streaming/pop-ins and dithering on hair and less or lack of anisotropic filtering.
I don't think the Gamersyde videos are from the preview build. They made it sound like it was from some convention/event, "We were recently invited to discover the first 3 hours of Final Fantasy XV... That's a solid point. This crap is impossible to keep up with, lol.

Well, the gamersyde story sounds closer to the Eurogamer and older Polygon preview's deal, but even the direct feed footage from gamersyd looks a little bit worse than the Eurogamer clip even on youtube. Maybe my eyes playing tricks on me, though. I dunno.

hope this is the case for FFXV. The game deserves the shine with all the bells and whistles enabled :D

I think it will be the case, buy I don't expect it to be that much better at launch. They'll have something, but it's takes them a while to do unscheduled patches with other games in the past. That SIGGRAPH presentation they did about how they did the optimization went largely over my head, but the gist that I did catch was that it's very much written to get the most out of the specific hardware. I would think the potential to do something pretty awesome with it is there, but it looked like it's not exactly as simple as turning up some graphics settings.

But, then again, with what they've done in such a short time since the delay, I can't rule anything out. I blew my Oro money on an Oculus, but I hope it's gorgeous for anyone who does get one.

Apparently, not only did it somehow slip by me that the combo skills can level up, but apparently it's not just a stat change. In the video he posted, you can see Gladio's tempest at a higher level than we've seen in all the other footage. It looks smoother and swings three times instead.

This is awesome. I was a little bit worried about the lack of selection in those skills. Knowing you can level them up throughout the game totally alleviates that.

I understood it, but I do this sort of thing for a living. (Anyone who's dealt with glibc and memory arenas probably gave a knowing sigh at the mutex discussion).

I'm not sure they're going to have enough time to really exercise the Pro's full capabilities, but I expect it to look significantly better. But like you said, what they've done with the base game is nothing short of incredible.

Did it level up? I watched the whole video, I didn't see it level up, earlier when he used it, it didn't look like that.

The level up is an assumption based of Gladio making a 3 hit combo with Tempest instead of 2 like we have seen before.
EDIT: DrBretto proved me wrong.

Deeper into the thread, I asked about it. He linked another video right to the point where you can see Gladio in the menu, and on the top it showed Tempest was 25% through level 3.

Nothing too big aside from thunder bombs, nifilheim base in daylight, improved duscae dungeon, and dat ramuh summon.

the level up techniques is legit, i remember seeing the bar in one video.

edit: it seems the camera works like in the eurogamer video in closed spaces.
