I... liked it. I mean, it's far from perfect, but I feel much, much better about the voices than before. Shame about the general voice direction and some choices here and there.

Noctis' is pretty good. Granted, his JP equivalent is better at conveying range and emotion, but the scene with him talking about his father sending him off with a smile was actually really good and weighty: really suits him, loved it. Cor's is pretty good as well, although I prefer the graver tone in the JP version. Ardyn's is great and incredibly fitting, and the actor seems to love playing the part, very endearing!

Regarding Luna's, although it lacks a little weight sometimes (when she's talking to Levi about Noctis' worthiness), is pretty good; I vastly prefer this one compared to the JP one. I just don't like the tone female characters more than usually use in Japanese, but that's entirely personal.

Now, the three bros... I'm warming up to Prompto's, but still, there was never a chance that I would like a character like that's voice, in any language :happymog: (but seriously, I'm starting to find him endearing, even!). Gladio's voice is alright, but lacking in emotion and range, too anime-y. Ignis has a good voice but the accent is sooooo fucking forced and snobbish. I don't get it, the actor's normal voice is great in itself :/

So yeah. I'll be playing the JP version, as I always usually consume media in the native language and the actors in the original version are top notch, despite my hate for the relatively usual awkwardness and exaggeration of Japanese acting. But, despite its many flaws (mainly direction), I don't really have that many complaints about the voices themselves.
Also, the footage here looks very much like how it does from the 1 hour clip, but improved quite a lot. I wonder if this is a downscaled PC build for console specs or something else. I saw people complaining about the lighting used, but the entire atmosphere has changed. They said that the Uncovered version looked better, but it actually looks worse. Half of the scenery in the background is missing in the Uncovered version... lol.
Haha, I thought the same. I overall prefer the new colours and, obviously, the busier scenario, both of which look noticeably better. The lighting looks flatter, though, but in a general sense this looks cleaner.

man, Ardyn's VA is spot on, he captures the ambiguity of the characther with his theatral voice so well.

definitely my favorite voice so far, with Cid's VA just behind.
Oh, I had forgotten about Cid. He sounds great indeed.

And Regis even though he's in the video. Probably one of the best of the game. Really regal and fatherly. Older characters, I feel, are on point.

Most of the VAs are quite good in my opinion, but I have to echo what everyone else is saying about Ardyn. His voice actor just nailed it so hard, and he's so very articulate when it comes to describing Ardyn and what sets him apart. I feel like he really, really gets it and I love pretty much everything about his delivery from the mocking verbosity to just how enthusiastic he is about the part in general.

De Paul is really owning his role.

'Oily' is such an apt descriptor. He's gonna steal the show.

Regarding Noctis: I'm so relieved by how well that angry/emotional scene came out. Gives me absolute faith in Noctis' range.
De Paul has me genuinely excited. He seems absolutely giddy about his own role, too. Very encouraging.

He really seems like a cool guy. Though I read somewhere his work in Kingsglaive was bad.

Some people don't seem to like the way he makes his speech so exaggerated and flowery, but I'm kinda a sucker for it. I think it's a great way to play the character.

I wouldn't have a problem with Ardyn's delivery being flowery if the guys just reacted to it. There's this really clever and mysterious guy that they meet and it takes so long for them to react accordingly lol.

I freaking love the feel that Ardyn has as a character. You knew he'd be excellent the moment you saw him at E3 2013.

I think they act accordingly.

If you met somebody like that you'd be real taken aback. The lads are no different.

When they first meet him they are naturally cautious. ' Is that so?'.
They even become aggressive 'yeah, and who's allowing us'. They can almost sense he's a crazy disingenuous fucker from the get go, but he obviously charms them and wins their trust.

Ardyn strikes me as a master manipulator. He's pushing them down this whole Archaen road, while conquering their homeland simultaneously. He's up to something big.
N.B. This is only speculation, I am NOT inviting people familiar with leaks/Kingsglaive to correct me.

Yeah, it also bothers me that the guys don't seem to recognize who he is. You'd think at least Noct and Ignis would recognize the chancellor of the country they're at war with.

Maybe they know who the chancellor is but don't know how he looks, after all the magic wall left Lucis almost isolated from the world.

Yeah, they've had a policy of isolationism, for obvious reasons.

Regis recognises him, but that's only because he is wise and shrewd. Ardyn has never met these people before.

'Honour to be recognised by the great King Regis...allow me to stand on ceremony and introduce myself nonetheless.

I think Noctis has been sheltered behind the wall for most of his life. There is no reason to believe that Niflheim media reaches the Crown City. Ardyn may not be known to him, and even if he was he obviously doesn't know what he looks like.
