What do you think about FFXV's English localization so far?

He sounded nothing like batman in the slightest during Duscae. That is one adamantly childish exaggeration, over a character having a voice you don't approve of. In other words, making a mountain out of a mole hill.

I think you're taking the whole Batman thing a bit too seriously. It's a facetious comparison which was a common joke back when ED came out. Hell, even Tabata said that Noctis sounded like Batman in one of the ATRs.

Speaking of Gladioulus (and VA in general), another reason to believe @DrBretto theory of "placeholder VA" or my theory of "some VA scenes being off and other not", look a clip from 1:39 to 1:57 (spoilers, I guess?). You can notice that Gladioulus performance is pretty different.

It's possible, I guess. This clip is from Kingsglaive, though, and the movie has a different voice direction. I'm going to remain skeptical until some actual footage with better VA is released.

I don't think it is. It says FFXV on the top while playing that scene, and Kingsglaive on the known Kinsglaive scenes. I think that clip is from the game.

It could be a mistake or something, but I don't see any reason to doubt it necessarily, either.

lol you're right. I didn't notice it and just assumed it was Kingsglaive because the clip was CG and shown right after the guy was talking about the movie. I stand corrected.

You put all that energy into using an exaggeration as an attempt for a valid argument. One I pointed out to be untrue. And I'm the one taking it seriously? Not to mention Tabata never stated Noctis sounded like batman, he non shalantly addressed that those were the complaints he got from U.S. players. Which he didn't care about because he already said the voices were rushed for the demo and that the final game will have the same voices but a different direction. So like one user in this thread already said, the voices in the demo were simply place holders.

I'm just trying to figure out why you are making such a massive deal about a situation Tabata has long since explained and resolved. This isn't a matter of who is right and who is wrong. Because the facts have already been decided. You literally made a thread just to pointlessly complain, basically.

I do have to say, we had better get used to that kind of thing. Don't expect this to be The Last of Us (nothing is The Last of Us. That was a fucking masterpiece.). I'm hoping for, and feel confident we'll get, much better than FFX. I'd be happy with XII. I see potential for better, but we'll see.

But we're going to get some cringey one-liners. I grew up on the Ninja Turtles. I can handle it. But there's gonna be some newcomers to this franchise, or Japanese games in general, that are not going to get it, lol.

There's actually a 5 part series on YouTube that shows dialogue from the Duscae demo. So far Prompto only has a few cringing lines. The rest are admittingly funny, especially when Ignis mocks Prompto for his fanboy talk of chocobos, to which Noctis backs Prompto up by claiming to understand the language of chocobo. Another in which everyone stops talking and there's this humorous silence, because they start hearing Prompto hyperventilating in the cave.

A majority of the Duscae dialogue which Tabata said all of it will be in the final game, consists of the 4 of them making somewhat badass one liners, and the 4 of them brutally roasting one another and my god it is hilarious.

I really like and am grateful for the way that Noctis's voice has been toned down to fit his age and look a lot more. I definitely don't dislike Ignis's accent; it's just a disconnect from how the Japanese version has no similar strong accent. Prompto's is great and Gladiolus's is fitting. I'm dying to hear the entirety of Lena Headey's Luna, and I think her voice in the game is my biggest concern since they seem pretty set on hiding that. My problem lies a bit with Ardyn; his voice seems a bit too old for him? Or it's at least way deeper/older than I expect it, judging from Kingsglaive, and the snippet we heard of his in-game voice sounds extremely similar despite the fact that we've been told the voices are different.

But, anyway, they're not going out of their way to hide Luna's VA, they're (apparently) not allowed to divulge any of the English VA's yet. My guess is some kind of union thing.

I think the reason why some people might think the Ardyn from Kingsglaive and the one from the game sound different might from the fact that in the little (selective picked) footage from Kingsglaive we can heard Ardyn talking in a more flamboyant manner while in some (selective picked) footage from XV he speaks in a more calmed way, I guess?

I don't care about the VA's name, just hearing a snippet of the voice, however small. We know how the voices for a lot of the main characters sound already, so.

And yep, definitely noticed the difference in tone between the movie and the game. The voice itself sounded similar to me, but the tone was different.
