Wait a minute, people still read?

Yes, apparently so, and I'm one of them. The most recent book I read was the first Jurassic Park novel, which I liked quite a lot more than any of the movies (still haven't seen World). Some of the scenes in Lost World and JP3 were actually from this book, like the pterodactyl enclosure from 3.

I also borrowed The Martian from a friend recently. Luckily it was one of the older editions without Matt Damon's face plastered on the cover. Looking forward to starting it soon.

Anyone else here read novels, short stories, nonfiction, or anything else? If so, what have you been reading lately?

I have read 3 chapters out of 10, really charming stuff about the Konoha 12 and my favourite pairing.

I love reading but between work and school, I lately have very little time for it. I do have to read for school, though, so I suppose that counts.

My last school reading that I really enjoyed was "The Yellow Wallpaper." When I get time I'd love to re-read Murakami's 1Q84 and the Harry Potter series. When I'm busy like this I usually keep some poetry with me for some quick recreational reading, in which case I've recently been into Rumi.

Well, I'm an English Education major so one would hope that I would enjoy reading for school in general even if there are works that I don't particularly like. Unfortunately the pacing for my current classes is quite quick and, in one, we're focusing on early British literature which can be a challenge to get through (thankfully we didn't read the whole thing, but even just a few Prologues and Tales from The Canterbury Tales are a task when you read untranslated versions). I've fallen behind lately too and haven't had time to read assigned works that I really do want to read (like Paradise Lost).

Reading some Shinto stuff.

I always find funny how westerns make half translation + mixing with japanese. Since Shinto(神道) reads as 神(God/Deity)道(Way/Path), making the title of the book 'God way The God (Kami) way'....

I borrowed Doctor Who The English Way of Death from a friend.

This'll be my second Doctor Who novel. The first was Last of the Gadarene (a Pertwee story), which was very enjoyable, so I have high hopes for this one. Especially since the Fourth Doctor is a lot more fun than the third.

Also for some reason whoever drew the cover made Lalla Ward look about 10 years older than she looked on the TV show, lol.

I've been reading Hagakure lately and it's fantastic. Also just recently finished Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman and thoroughly enjoyed it!

Have you read American Gods? It's also by Neil Gaiman and it also has Anansi in it, but I'm not sure if it's the same Anansi from Anansi Boys. It's worth a read if you like Neil Gaiman. I read it and enjoyed it, but some people make it out to be much better than it is I think...

The one Neil Gaiman book that I did love though was Good Omens (which he wrote with Terry Pratchett). That one is just brilliant and worth your time if you haven't gotten to it yet.
