Dont talk to me like this Azuardo. Stop involving yourself into these things all the time when they dont concern you.

And I stand by what I said. Once the playthrough begins, the players will have to be online regularly. we cant wait around for days on one checkpoint. As you have proven before you dont care much about these things and if it were up to you we would just play whenever without a common pace and flow and it would be okay for people not to join in when asked but just whenever. Because these things dont mean a damn to you. Well they mean a damn to me. I am organizing this thing, so I have to make sure that it goes smoothly. So if I want to establish the list of starting players I need the players to pay attention and confirm if they are in or not. And not 3 days later. Or we never get anything done or structured. You maybe wanna do this the lazy and "whatever, whenever" way but it doesnt work this way. Not with several players involved. Now if you have a problem with this or the way I run this project you are free to drop out and make your own project where there is no structure, no rules and everyone can just not consider the others. But thats not how I am doing this so stop telling me off, every time I am trying to uphold the structure. Its getting on my nerves how you are always backstabbing me.

if you want to continue this discussion, please do it per PM. This is the FF IX playthrough thread and I am not interested in having a fight in here. Anyone who has a problem with me or how I do things can always discuss it with me like adults per PM. Not here. I am doing what I deem best and necessary to make sure that this project has a structure and rules that serve the best interest of everyone who particpates. Sick of my efforts always being criticized.

I will post my reply here and it will be the end of it. But you really are overreacting now. I am not "backstabbing" you or anything of the sort. You make needless negative situations out of the smallest things, so I always just try to bring it back down a level. You snap at people for the slightest things, so I am trying to keep the peace in a common sense kind of way in these situations.

The thing is, buddhafied had previously already stated in the original topic that he would be taking part in this, so I felt it was very unnecessary to snap at him when he just got online again and reconfirmed his taking part. I'm just saying it seems very needless to snap just because he didn't reconfirm a day earlier. I know it's your idea, but come on, it's such a minor thing that I didn't think it warranted such a harsh reply. I'm sure it was a bit of a shock to buddhafied that his name wasn't on the list when he already stated he'd take part. You could have easily just responded in a better way, that's all. "Sure, we haven't started the game yet, so I'll add you to the list." Simples. Not changing any rules; just trying to keep the peace and try to tell you that you need to just reduce the overreactions a little. It'll only turn people away.

And with that, let's enjoy the game tomorrow.

I'll reply to this as well. Not complaining, not upset and just want to clear the air a little as well. Like Azuardo, I'm replying once on this and will be the end of it, too.

To be honest, I was a little taken back by the original post back from OmegaFlare as well, only because I did check the forum, seemingly less than 48 hours ago, and I did reply previously and also voted on it. I know it wasn't "official" then, but it wasn't like I didn't check the forum for a week and expected everyone to wait for me either.

I think the structure and rule was set very nicely and I feel that it will help define everyone progress and keep everyone on track; I personally, and I think Azuardo and others, appreciate you have put so much effort in it already, Omega. No one is asking to bend the rules (and I thought we are still waiting for Phoenix anyway?) just maybe less harsh on dealing with a "late" signup issue, which I personally think has a very short sign up period, would be nice. This is after all, supposed to be a fun activity and like I said, I am really looking forward to it!

No hard feelings at all. Let's enjoy the game tomorrow together!

Omega - chill buddy. There are less than 10 of us, you aren't organizing the Boston marathon. A lot of us work full-time and are just doing this for fun, myself included. Let's just enjoy ourselves and not let this get too heated.

At any rate, seeing as I am the last one to check in, let the games begin!

What I said to buddhafied (why do you have to be his lawyer? Let him speak for himself) was not meant as harsh or "snapping". I just wanted to let him know that he is a little late with his confirmation and that we almost started without him and that during the playthrough the players need to be able to check in regularly. Its just not fair to the rest of the players if they have to wait for days for someone because that someone doesnt bother to check in as regularly as they do. And its my job to maintain that and to make sure that it all works. And it only works if everyone is on the same page. Its just like if you play multiplayer online. IN Raid-groups in MMos for example if one of the players doesnt do his part as the others do, things wont work. Its the same basic principle with this. I am basically the Raid leader and I have a job and a responsibility to make sure that everyone does their part and that this works. That the structure is maintained, that we all follow the same rules. I will never expect anything from anybody that I wont do myself and I will never expect anything that they didnt sign up for so to speak.

Obviously joining in this project requires for each player to have enough time for it, so it can work smoothly and properly for everybody. So I do assume that everyone participating is aware of that.

I am not mad or angry or upset at buddhafied over this. Of course not. But I see it as my job in this to make it clear to him why we almost started without him and why he needs regular time for this and that it would have been better if he had responded when I asked for confirmation from everybody who is in. Everyone else did.

Also the original thread doesnt exist anymore and I didnt remember everyone who said he was in. buddhafied was one of those I didnt remember, because he hadnt written anything after that anymore so he slipped my mind. Which is exactly why I wanted confirmation again from everyone who is in. Because I dont want us to start and then suddenly a whole bunch of people gets left behind and complains a few days later "But I said I wanted to join too". The player list I created wasnt for fun, it was for a very good reason. The rules are for a very good reason, the structure of it is for a very good reason and that cant be changed on a whim. So yeah I might seem overly tense or touchy or whatever and not as relaxing and "who cares" because I want to make sure that this runs right and because its my responsibility to each and every one of the players to steer this ship so to speak, maintain it and make sure that we´re all onboard and keep on sailing without getting caught in a storm that sinks the ship. If you get what I mean.

So buddhafied, dont take it personally please. I didnt mean to be harsh, snappy or come down on you, you are more than welcome to this project as is anyone who wants to be part of it. I am excited and happy about this and that we have a nice, great group of dedicated fans and players in this. But I need to make sure that it goes smoothly for everyone and one thing thats absolutely necessary for that is that everyone checks in regularly.

I hope you´ll understand and you´re not upset with me now. I want us all to be friends in this.

Very good my friend ;)

And of course Phoenix is right. This project is of course for fun. Thats why we are here. My job is to make sure that it remains fun for everybody and doesnt become an uncoordinated mess. And yes I take that responsibility very seriously. You can and should just relax and enjoy yourselves and follow the structure and rules we agreed on. I will do that as well but I also need to make sure that we stay on course all the way through as intended.

Phoenix raised another good point that is not considered in the rules. the fact that some players have more playing time then others due to real life schedules like work and such.

So here is what we should do:

If one of us knows he will have to stop playing soon, I want him or her to let us know in advance. Then all of us will only play until the next checkpoint, save the game and continue on the next day then.

Since not all of us will be online at the same time (or play at the same time) the waiting times at checkpoints need to adjusted to that. I think 24 hours as maximum waiting time for everyone to reach that checkpoint is reasonable. Please tell me if you disagree or think you wont be able to make that.

Seems reasonable.. we can always revise the time later if it turns out that some members can't make it. I imagine as we go we'll have to make it a bit longer, as fatigue may set in a bit. But I'm willing to play it by ear, I may not make every checkpoint within 24 hours, but I also know I'm busier than most. More likely than not I'll be playing catchup on the weekends as we go. But don't let me hold up the rest of the group.

yeah I am afraid we cant tailor this to every single players individual needs.

Also before we start , please everyone who will be playing read all of the rules in the original post first so there will be no bad surprises ala "i didnt know that". I know reading rules is not much fun but please do it anyway.

We´ll start the game tomorrow then.

Yep, let's keep things civil. This is a community thing. You're going to face a few bumps in the road even if we started off on the right foot. I don't think it should be an issue if people join in after the fact. We just won't wait for their asses.

Wow! Temperature rose during the night as I can read! I hope you all chilled and we are ready to enjoy this! It's a fact that we all have duties and we need to push ourselves a bit for this project, but still it should be fun! And it will be fun! Um... Did we discuss the hours that each player can devote to this? Now that we all grouped up? Or we will see the flow of it during playing?

Just see how it goes, I guess! I can take a few screenies from my PSP, too, so might do that for certain things. Maybe show my current team at each checkpoint. Looking forward to starting now.

Dont worry guys, me and buddhafied sorted things out peacefully and everything is cool between us. we´re all human beings and things can get out of control sometimes. But what matters is that we solve them like adults right?

@Leon:

not every player will be able to play the same amount of hours, so I wont be setting a definitive amount of hours that must be played. Whats important is that if someone knows he´ll must stop playing soon he should tell that to the rest of us and then we all make it to the next checkpoint and call it a day. Otherwise those who need to leave earlier because they have work on the next day will be left too far behind since others will be already 3 more checkpoints ahead.

of course nobody should just call it a day after only one hour or so. everyone definitely should have sufficient time for this.

Yes everyone who has read the rules in the original post can start playing now :) The first checkpoint is after leaving Evil Forest and reaching the world map (before entering Ice Cavern).

To quote my most favorite comic book supervillain:

"And. Here. We. Go"

Hoorah. Already I have a problem getting the game started lol. Opening FMV won't load after New Game. Might have to downgrade CFW or something. I'll get it sorted.

Edit: Ahh, it's all good. Tried a different Popsloader.

Dont you use the digital version from Playstation Store on your PSP? That should work perfectly fine. Maybe you should have downloaded VII, VIII and IX from me after all when you had the chance :p
