Did anyone else reserve Type-0? Some people are still on the fence about it.
If we're gonna be getting new info all the way up to the demo, I'm ok with it. I feel like the demo will flat out tells a release date down to the month if nothing else.
What I'm seeing now affirms what others were telling me that the game is still a decently made action RPG. I'm sorry I doubt you Tabata. LOL
Once XV comes out some may like it some might not, but when we move on the 16 I hope these lines in the sand can finally stop being drawn. Or at least not drawn as often. That's the bad side to forums and chat rooms. Often times people set up these us vs. them ideas and purposely word them harshly to start arguments so they can release their frustration about something as simple as a game.

@Squirrel Emperor You can't have fun and lighten up without trolling?

I truly believe Tabata is keeping Nomura's vision in tact while making a fun and real game. This presentation proved that to me. He handled it well and it basically felt like Yoshi-P's live letters and that game went on to be amazing. Same good vibes. He deserves as much credit for keeping as much Versus as possible without compromise and then some.

Tabata's game design philosophy is also one I support.

Apparently Erren is still disappointed by the no character switching so I'm glad I'm not the only one who is fine with how the game is right now. :D
Suuuuper pumped right now. :chocowalk:
Honestly, shit happens. I guess it just didn't work out and I'm sure he wanted it in. But with how Noctis is, I don't mind as the game is kind of built around him. I'm really hyped after this. As duckroll put it whether he was serious or not: Sometimes it's better not to have something at all, than to have something in a game and for it to be bad.

It honestly makes sense to me... take a look at what Noctis can do, the fact that he can switch his weapons and warp, none of the other characters can do this. This alone makes for controlling the other characters just unappealing.

Looking past that though, playing Prompto would be third person shooter the entire time, which doesn't appeal to me that much. As for the other characters, just melee without the ability to do the cool stuff Noctis does.

Do I understand why people are a little upset with this? Yes, but I don't really agree, as I don't see the need to control the other characters. Honestly, there is no tactical reason to switch who you are controlling. Playing as Noctis will give you the edge in ANY situation, and playing as any other character for the sake of playing them is merely a gimmick to please players that want to control them. However, considering how limited these characters are, it would feel rather pointless.

Switching between characters was never something I was excited for, I was more excited for the battle system, the story, the environments, etc. Everyone is of course entitled to their opinion, however, I believe that I can shed some light on why this really isn't a big of a deal as some people are making it out to be. Being able to control multiple characters to give a weak impression of what "Final Fantasy" is supposed to be like just sounds like a joke to me.

One thing that also made me relax was knowing that Tabata is the right man for the job. He's a director who's taken his time to address the fan's questions and be very flexible of talking sincerely about the development of the game.
It's like as if he's so passionate into the work he's doing and has no worries of talking the good and bad during the development of the game, including reasons why.
More should this.
Definitely. People can say what they want about the PR, but he came off as extremely transparent and he and the team now seem very passionate about the game they are making. I am behind that. What he showed looks and sounds good, too.

lol yeah. Did that even work out well? barely saw it.

I think once people have gotten their hands on the game, they'll most likely shut up and just be entranced by the glorious things that they'll be experiencing in XV.
PR much? I understand hype, but we can't say for sure if the game is going to be good yet, let alone how you are painting it.

I think I'm going to side with LeonBlade on this one. Switching characters with Noctis' versatility in play seems almost pointless. It also doesn't help that certain abilities can only be utilised when Noctis is in the party. So him being solely playable doesn't hurt the game in my eyes. That being said, it'd be nice for SE to not be so adverse to character switching mechanics. I still believe that the XIII Saga would have improved greatly had you been able to switch characters on the fly during battles.

Factoring in all things, I think the change in battle system has more to do with FFXV costing the company way too much money and so it's time to start axing and changing things in order to get the game out. There is no time to get what Nomura visioned to work properly.

If the higher ups kept Nomura on the project and was told that he needed to start making drastic changes, that would be something he would struggle with as it's his pet project. It's his baby. Hard to let go.

By getting rid of Nomura and replacing him with Tabata, you got yourself a new director who has no real strong emotional attachment to the project. And so he should have no issue doing things, good or bad, to Nomura's vision in order to get things done. Personally, I think the higher ups are stepping in on some things and forcing Tabata to do stuff.

@Squirrel
I agree, there are probably a handful of other factors at play that we are not aware of. Still that seems to be the crux of the situation.

After taking all this in since TGS, I'll be keeping an open mind from now on. I'm sure some can agree that part of the allure of this game going back to it's Versus XIII days has been the mystery surrounding it. We knew so little and the limited amount we did see/read/hear about created a sort of holy grail effect. Although now SE (by way of Tabata) have become more transparent in regards to info and showcasing XV. Because of this the initial infatuation with XV is probably fading, in place for reformed opinions on what to generally expect. The demo can only help SE and the potential of XV.

I'm really fucking excited!

It could be, it couldn't be. I just don't think it worked, which comes exactly from the "there is no time to get it to work properly" where there was probably issues with it.

While I feel sorry for Nomura, I disagree that Tabata has no strong emotional attachment. I think it's the opposite and he has kept close to it.

He's arguing that XV wasn't Tabata's baby from the start. However strong the attachment to XV you believe Tabata has, it won't be the same as Nomura's.

Yeah I know what he said. I stand by it. To clarify, I'm not disagreeing with that and I think it's obvious. But I don't think he's treating it like there should be no issue changing whats needed regardless of result. I think he's making the right choices and calls when he has to for the good of it while keeping intact as much as possible.

No argument here. It's not perfect, but I can see Tabata is really giving a good try to get the game where it needs to be gameplay-wise while keeping Nomura's story. Now I just wanna see Limit Breaks, Summons, and skill/spell lists.
