" This is a Tech Demo, is just a simple Presentation , and not fun to play" It was sure fun to watch!

I also notice that, when showing off the characters I feel like they are "actually selected" and the player is moving the camera around.

Edit: Yeah they are definitely character switching

If this doesn't convince you that there is character switching ( or you can someone other than Noct I don't know what will XD

Finally! I hope there aren't any mistranslations there.

Apparently you can also switch to a frog!
Is that a new party member?

To explain the evade mechanic, you can just hold down the defend button and you'll continuously evade as you do so. It's that kind of system. It's the same with attacking too, if you hold the attack button you'll continuously attack.
Who the hell thought this was a good idea? So, instead of being a button masher its now a... button "holder"?

What's wrong with holding down the button over pressing it repeatedly? Seems more favorable in my eyes. Plus, it doesn't take away from any of the skill and timing aspects.

Yeah, I'd reserve judgement on it. No real specifics outside of him saying you can hold down to evade. You still gotta direct Noctis around, too.

Though he also says "This is just a tech demo, it is not fun to play" at the beginning so that gives me confidence that this demo is just the entire system at its barebones. They still have a lot of time to make the necessary additions and changes.

Yep, I bet this is mainly what they will be focusing on all the way up to the demo. When we see the demo, we will see Majority of the combat in action.

"A: I will avoid going into the details of the intricate battle system. However if you hold onto the Defend button, he will continuously perform quick dodges for you. That is how the battle system works.

Keyword here is IF! I hope now people can calm down a little about this "Only button holding thing...

Edit 1: He also says he is Avoiding going into detail about the battle system... but he will tell us that if you hold the button it will auto attack.

And "IF" you don't hold it down you will just do 1 action per tap...

Edit 2: Another comment from HHturtle on Reddit.

I don't mind the scrutiny. Heck, it's what I've been doing ever since the demo presentation.

"勝手に" can be a difficult word to translate. Other than "automatically", the other words that I can think of are "arbitrarily", "by himself" or "of his own accord". With that said, I don't think there is a lazy auto-attack button so I do think that you need to manually press it to input commands for techniques.

Feel this should be posted in regards to the concern of the battle system:

I would still like to address the "Tabata's Type-0 Lite gameplay" issue. The most recent demo presentation (Yes, the one where you're all getting your gifs from) is from a FF Type-0 HD Emergency Talk Show. The Talk Show was only 30 minutes and wasn't part of the main TGS event. Furthermore, the original objective of the talk show was to present more FF Type-0 HD and FF Agito+ info to the public, not FFXV.

The FFXV segment was included at the last minute. They never really planned for it. They explained that the demo is far from a representation of the final game and Tabata specifically said that he didn't want to go into detail concerning the battle system, choosing to use simple explanations instead. Furthermore, the UI was missing a lot of features.

I have translated the entire thing: http://www.reddit.com/r/FinalFantasy...g_ff_type0_hd/

I know it's long but at least, it shows how unplanned the FFXV segment was.

This basically confirmed "Character switching"
I hate to be "that guy", but they also switched to the frog, which I doubt will be playable. (I'd love if it was though.) Also remember that they were making use of "debug tools" or whatever. So I don't think this really confirms or denies anything yet. Maybe I'm just being too skeptical though, I dunno.

I don't know He straight out said " Try switching to another character" whether it was debugging tools or not, the wording of it all implies that You can switch between characters.

See? We were all getting emotional for no good reason. What's been shown so far isn't even close to the final product. There's even a chance the old HUD will return. (The one with the party facial expressions.)

Well, upon closer examination, I think you may be right. It's pretty obvious that Tabata (yellow text) was handling all the debug commands while the player (white text) was the one controlling Noctis/the camera. And like you pointed out, Tabata told the guy playing it to switch characters. But then when it came to the frog it seemed Tabata was the one who made that switch. (He says "Let me show you" and the player seemed surprised at the sudden shift to the frog.) This kinda leads me to believe you can switch.

Who knows though? No point in over-thinking it really (though I guess I am).

Well, I personally think it's a no brainer it's a numbered FF game, All FF Numbered games allowed you to control all "playable" characters. So I think we have nothing to worry about.

That's like saying all FF games have turn-based combat, which is not true. You can't say for sure.
There's a difference between gameplay, and characters that come with you through the epic journey. It's practically expected. Gameplay on the other hand has been different in every FF game: ATB/Turn Based (without the timer)/Open World battling in FFXII/Paradigm Shift ( enhanced version of ATB), and now Open world battling again in FFXV ( expect it's more action-ey).
