I am still curious how the dark tone will play into the game. Didn't they say this will be the darkest Final Fantasy yet?
yes. In fact, Nomura said he was scared of brinignig forth Noctis because he thought the character was "out of bonds" for the FF franchise. its arguably the darkest FF yet because it foucses less on anime tropes seen in past titles or shows like Naruto and more down to earth themes that exist in our world. something similar to how Metal Gear does it but with A FF approach.

"anime tropes" Despite the "dark tone" this seems to still exist from views of all trailers. I really don't think it should be a complaint or an issue. It's still an FF.

She starts as an antagonist, but I'm 99% sure she will become a party member halfway through the game. Nomura won't tell us, because it's supposed to be a "surprise".
You've seen this video, right?

Gametrailers put it together last year, after E3. It brings to light remarkable parallels between XV and Hamlet, alongside examining the game as a whole.

Well yeah. It's too early to know for sure really.

It will be disappointing if it's a male only cast. Current group is too monochrome. Needs variety.

Eh, I'll be fine with it if their personalities are strong. I don't really care if they are all male and wear black, I just care they aren't bland or bad.
Agreed. And I think fans probably won't pay too much attention to the all-male, all-black colors if their characteristics & motivations hold up.

It will be interesting to see how Nomura utilizes the whole 'brotherhood' theme. I'd imagine our heroes' friendship will be tested by way of possible betrayal, personal agendas, or even love. The whole Hamlet backdrop does lend credence to these themes.

Just so long as the characters (both good & bad) show some form emotion & pragmatism in this game's plot, I'll be satisfied.

I'm completely fine with an all male cast, just as long as there is still a lot to work with... which there clearly is. Not that I'm saying I wouldn't like it if there WAS a female, but I think Nomura knows what he's doing, and whatever characters are in the game, they're there for a reason, so I accept whatever there is for what it is.

Monochromatic in terms of what? Their appearance or personalty?

Noctis Lucis Caelum: A childhood affliction endowed Noctis, heir apparent to the throne of Lucis, with the mystical power to see a heavenly light, through which he could sense others' deaths. Noctis rejects rigid royal conventions and acts as somewhat of a renegade, much to the dismay of those who tend to him. Yet while "Noct" may act brash at times, he does so in defense of those loyal to him.

Gladiolus Amicitia: As lord of the noble House Amicitia, Gladiolus continues a line sworn to protect the crown. "Gladio" shares a friendship with Noctis that transcends birth and title, and his loyalty to his liege is born not of duty, but of brotherhood.

Ignis Scientia: Ever the unwavering voice of reason, Ignis was weaned on shrewd logic and a classical education from boyhood so that he might one day counsel the would-be king, Noctis. He applies the deep mutual understanding and trust they have built over time to help smooth over Noctis's brusqueness with others.

Prompto Argentum: The puckish playboy Prompto befriended Noctis in his school days. He wears a chip on his shoulder as an outsider to the royal circle, but remains eager to do all he can for the cause.

Cor Leonis: A living legend of Lucian lore, Lord Commander Cor Leonis's devotion to the art of war is surpassed only by that to his king. Little love is lost between the ill-starred stalwart and Noctis's retinue, yet honor binds him to keep watch over the group all the same.

Then after doing research I came to this conclusion.

Regis Lucis Caelum CXIII: Father of Noctis and King of Lucis, who runs his family like the Yakuza as stated by Nomura. Compassion is a treat of his because the peace treaty is called an act of love; ; he allowed the chef to continue working despite the green soup lacking flavor.

Idola Eldercapt: The culprit behind Niflheim forces storming in Lucis to steal the last crystal. It is he who used the peace treaty as a ruse, secretly controlling the Niflheim army behind the scenes. He wants Noc dead.

Stella Nox Fleuret: She is the opposite of Noc, comforting her problems head on instead of remaining reserved about them. Stella is very direct. She never shies away. Nomura says she is written as a whole new female that the audience has never seen before in the Final Fantasy franchise.

Friendship according to Nomura is not romance - Since he prefers depicting friendships over love affairs, the former will play an important role in the game's story. The burden resting on the shoulders of the protagonist and his friends might be very heavy, but nonetheless Nomura also aims to realistically show the positive aspect of their friendship, too. Noruma implements the bond of friendship. Ignis, Prompto, and Gladiolus are as down to earth as Noctis, not being generic servants to the Caelum crown or tag along buddies. He repeatedly said they’re meant to appear tangible, so gamers can share a relationship with them as their journey continues -----> realistic and believable as real people and no anime-like. Sounds reasonable to me for staying away from cartoonish tropes so the characters feel more aligned with the greyer toned story. If he is making FF15 as the edgiest title yet then "realistic flawed" characters are necessary and I doubt he would go suddenly go against this, making everyone feel like they came out of a Saturday morning cartoon instead or anime like Fairy Tail.

Just look at the interaction between Noctis and his father.
Even without words the scene feels so homey! I feel like that can be me in the picture

--------------
The characters seem alright so far. It helps even more that they talk in real time like in Nier and Red Dead Redemption. Generic battles lines are tossed out the window as seen in the TGS2013 trailer. All of this supports better characters to me in a much more organic way compared to cutscene format or skits (Tales of). Or do you mean that everyone's black and white dress is monochrome? That relates to Rule of Symbolism trope. If you read Shakespare then you would know light and dark are contrasted through the atmosphere/setting. Same for FF15. Beside Rule of Symbolism, The characters in white are people of an enemy state named Niflheim. The design concept is based on the idea of asymmetry, so the colors on either sides of their clothing are. The same would obviously apply to Lucians, reason Prompto isn't dressed all black because he is an outsider.

Takahara is the clothes designer, but Nomura has the final word. For those who do not know, Takahara is a big hit among Japanese men in the genre of street fashion. He loves to mix textures together, producing an unique style. Yes he favors real materials. He puts emphasis on EXTRAordinary, so his brand may not sit well with everyone. Video games need theatrical flair and that is what he provides.

Yeah there can be a bit more color in same areas though would that take away the darker aspect? OVER ALL SOUNDS GOOD.

I think Squirrel Emperor just meant to say they were all male and wore black. I don't think that really long post was necessary lol.
