Release is set to be 26th of January for NA and 29th of January for EU.

Not sure if I still want this, there will be more interesting JRPGs coming out in 2016, starting with Xenoblade X in December.
Yeah. From Square Enix alone: World of Final Fantasy, FFXV, DQ Heroes II, DQ Builders, DQXI, rumoured Front Mission, Mana, SaGa, Nier, Star Ocean, Project Setsuna, ports, localizations, maybe Toriyama's FF game.

Oh, come on. Do you really believe all of these games will come out in NA and EU in 2016? Apart from Star Ocean, which is confirmed, maybe FF XV will make it, Nier if we're lucky. DQ is also still an uncertain quantitiy, given how it'll probably be coming out late in 2016, 2017 in the west maybe.
Depends on which DQ title you're talking about. I'd say we get Heroes II if the first one sells a certain amount.

Given that it's out so late, I don't consider it much of a gap-filler (take into account that us Europeans are getting a number of Atlus USA titles only in 2016). The only thing that kind of makes me want to get a copy is if I have some spare money and this might make Square Enix come back to localize other 3DS games than Theatrhythm.

They localized KH3D and that Taito launch title.

They've already explained the situation with VII. VIII isn't even out yet. They're considering Slime 3. They clearly see no profit in the Monsters series abroad any more.
