Square Enix has announced the following today in the Final Fantasy XI press conference.

Square Enix's Online Department is working with Nexon to bring the MMORPG to iOS & Android in 2016.

The first part of the final, Final Fantasy XI expansion pack will be launching in May 2015, titled Rhapsodies of Vana’diel. Parts 2 and 3 will come in August and November 2015 respectively.

The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2 versions of Final Fantasy XI will be terminated in March 2016. The PC version will continue.

They've dropped PS2 support a while ago, I wonder if they mean that it won't even be able to connect to the servers? Or maybe just selling the PS2 versions? I don't know, either way it doesn't make much sense.

I spent a good 3-4 years into FFXI, an unforgiving, difficult grind MMO back when it was in its early stage. I still remember the night my level 75 Dark Knight fought and beat Maat...

Just as I finally gave the MMO's a try and finally accepted them this news followed not to far after, just my luck eh? Well It's good the PC version will continue but I really want to experience it on PS2 at least once, it seems I have a year so I better start seeing what I need to play it!

I will also be doing FFXIV as well, busy busy! But it's FF, so that's cool! :happymog:
