most FFXV buyers probably don't even know or care enough about Versus to justify SQ doing a revival of the project and not an expansion of the current title (which sold +6 million).
also with the work going with FFVII Remake, KHIII, the new updates for FFXV, i doubt they would announce a revival this soon.
it doesn't make any sense, but Ilazy and heyeveryone will believe anyway.

I think what that means is the 2300 people+ who signed the reboot Versus petition, those that are on FFP's channel that want World of Versus to be true, along with those that want the Versus outfits. The casuals though I agree they don't care either way, but they will probably buy it up though, I mean hey they like these characters, so seeing more of them couldn't hurt. It also says internally you know I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to hold off on XVI for a while, so sequels/AU whatever to a title that sold 6+ million could do it.
I suspect if they do announce something, I'm going to bet World of Versus will get some demo for FFXV assuming this is true, but the revival could still get an announcement, but that's all we will get, just oh hey guys you know that Versus XIII you wanted well it's happening, here's some footage for the demo(most likely some game translation of Omen or maybe it might be something else)

also, announcing a revival would confuse the audience that bought FFXV, and since it would bring basically the same thing of the previous game (world-view, battle system, characters....) it would sell less for sure.
another thing, if they were to develop a "remake", Tabata wouldn't be talking about updating FFXV for one year and beyond and Nomura wouldn't be busy with his multiple FFVII games (the first part didn't even released yet and will probably go out in 2018).

It would also be a gigantic middle finger to the 6+ millions that bought the game, pandering to a vocal minority would ensure the opposite of success.
A remake dividing the audience hard should be the last thing S.E. would want.

Alternate reailties, they already did this if they were so worried about confusing those that bought FFXV, they wouldn't announce AU's and put an AU in the game itself. Hell this World of Versus/Versus XV/ Versus XIII Revivial would just be a fleshing out of that.
This World of Versus AU, is probably not going to release until 2019, so him talking about updates till the end of 2017 isn't an issue, also it's possible a World of Versus demo would be added to FFXV, so I still don't see the issue here. If World of Versus is announced this year, and releases in 2019-2020, and is announced as an AU something that they have confirmed to exist, it wouldn't affect FFXV.

This fanbase was always divided if anything most of those 6 million would look at this World of Versus be like oh I liked Gladio, I'm gonna buy World of Versus. Or they will be like Ooh more Chocobros, gonna buy World of Versus in 2019-2020.
Hell if they were really worried about giving people that bought FFXV a middle finger or confusion to those 6 million people then this wouldn't exist
Why alternate timelines, and in places like during the timeskip. Now I don't believe this is true even though I want it too be, unless I see something more substantial, I'm taking it with salt.

Though hell I wouldn't be surprised if with the further updates to FFXV, I would make this World of Versus whatever possible, I'm going to think that the updates are somehow going to touch on these alternate realities thus setting up the World of Versus existence.
They make a game or a couple games about it, then move on to a VI Remake, and XVI.
Until I see this "The first media to probably make it here will probably be off screen captures." I don't believe it, I have hope, but I don't have belief.
