Hey all! Any news that perhaps isn't big enough to be worth a thread of its own and not attached to a game with a big general thread of its own like FF15 are to go here... and I'm going to merge a few other posts in here to demonstrate what kind of stuff I mean. :) Feel free to keep this thread updated, and discuss any news posted in here.

EDIT: To clarify on this thread: this should basically be used for anything small about peripheral FF stuff... smaller level hires and fires or rumours and the like. Use common sense, but anything bigger can obviously go in a catch-all news thread for a specific game or have a new thread of its own.

Visual Works Did Not Work on FFVII:ACC or FFXII:RW

According to this new montage, it would seem Visual Works didn't work on Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete or Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings.

No Plans to Remaster Crisis Core or The 3rd Birthday
Digital Spy asked the director of both games, Hajime Tabata if there were any plans to remaster the PlayStation Portable games, Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- or The 3rd Birthday. Sadly this is what he said.

"This kind of project [Final Fantasy Type-0 HD] requires a lot of thought to get right and we can't just go about remastering PSP games for the sake of it," he told Digital Spy.

"You need to put a lot of thought and effort into this kind of thing to make it something worthwhile.

"Type-0 was remastered because of audience demand, so there was a very strong reason for us to work on it and deliver it to players.

"It's not enough for us to simply want to do a remastered edition because we like a game, there has to be a stronger reason for it happening."

Tabata continued: "Crisis Core and 3rd Birthday have been released around the world already, so there's much less reason for the audience to want to see it released again.

"We always consider where the value is in doing a project like this and Type-0 had significant value where other games didn't have so much."

Tabata added that if there were ever any plans to revisit the two games, they would be "full remakes" rather than HD remasters.

"[We'd] go back and change everything from the graphics, to how loading works and everything else to make it fully native to the latest generation of hardware," he said.

"That might be worth doing, but a remaster probably wouldn't."

The 3rd Birthday is available on the PlayStation Store and as a result can be played on PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV easily. Sadly, Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- is not available on the PlayStation Store due to licensing issues. As a result, Crisis Core can not be played on modern hardware and its platform was discontinued worldwide last year. Maybe if someone brought this up Tabata would re-consider.

Mevius FF Composer Revealed
The latest issue of Famitsu Weekly has revealed that Mitsuto Suzuki is Mevius Final Fantasy's composer. Mitsuto Suzuki worked on the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy, Dissida 012 and TWEWY but this is his first time as the main composer.

New Mevius FF Scans

Looks like it's free-to-play with in-app-purchases.

Thank you for clearing this up. Before it seemed like it was for small news like cloud saving and basic DLC. Now I know character reveals and composer reveals are considered generic.

Patch 2.55, titled “Before the Fall” Part Two, for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is now available. The update adds the finale of the A Realm Reborn story.

Here's a message from the Director & Producer, Naoki Yoshida.

Quote

“First of all, I would like to thank all the Final Fantasy XIV players around the world who have supported the development team in bringing the current story to its climax, as well as to the development and operations team that have worked around the clock – thank you very much," he wrote. "As the Patch 2.0 series comes to an end in Patch 2.55, I am very excited to see your reactions to the end of the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn scenario!

"FFXIV, which started as A Realm Reborn, has evolved and grown massively in the last year and a half. These dramatic changes to the game have also been a fun and exciting experience. Even if you are away from Final Fantasy XIV at the moment, please enjoy the last of A Realm Reborn and look forward to a new beginning in Heavensward - which will bring the start of a new scenario and a huge volume of new content including new jobs, maps and raids, an increase of level cap, the implementation of Free Company contents and much more.

"The volume will be more than a brand new RPG. Thank you for all your support so far and please look forward to the updates coming in the Heavensward 3.0 series!"
